Assalamualaikum and hi!!
it's been a while since i went to a motivational talk with two inspirational doctors who were graduated from my university. They are Dr Mohd Hatta Tarmizi and Dr Mohd Faiz Jamli, cool men with enriching talks punctuated with sensible humors which make the event seems so alive and interesting.=) Well done doctors!
I've been wondering on how both of them survive during their studying. Just two of them and none till they graduated! They shared their experiences since they arrive here in a small town called Mansoura, Egypt whereby they were the only malays student at that time. Both of them graduated in 1994. Superb! that was when i was just 4 years old and i can't even recall any memory during that ages!
Shortly and briefly, rolling back during their 1st year, they survived as two strangers who had been sent by government to live in unfamiliar place whereby the place was not even listed in one of places in weather-list-temperature-search-sidebar-window-gadget(actually till now) and peoples feel awkward to them. Dr Faiz who was the first who arrived Mansurah and Dr Hatta came a bit late, might after a day(if not mistaken). They became a very best friend. All their classes in Arabic language and they found such difficulties in understanding every subject they learned. However they managed to overcomed them by learning the language from little kind and helpful egyption student who were also their colleagues.
There were no internet in that time moment. They tend to socialize by visiting friends who lived in Cairo every weeks to get some current news and other things too. Actually, it's so tired to shuttle from Mansoura to Cairo! They need to do this for the sake of aforementioned. Wow! They likely to study together. Everytime they felt down, they referred themselves to their lecturers to have some booster. However the feedback were not all positive and some of them are negative. Example for the negative one, his lecturer said, ''you are going in repeat year soon''. So unbearable! However some had gave them good advises and very uplifting one.
the most favourite saying by dr faiz originate from his late doctor:
What are you studying in medical is same throughout the world but you are the one that will makes the different!
Also, they shared their life as a house officer(HO) and it's really tough. They advised us to be proactive. From their experiences as a consultant, they observed the proactive HO have much potential and succeed in their practices. Second, be recover fast from blurred effect if you are stuck with some problem that you cant solve perfectly. Investigate every weakness and improve. Nothing to be fear! (of course they dont want us to be freak out by rangging medical officer(MO) when they go nut..lols) Last but not least, they told us to avoid vices and give our hands to someone who are in need. When we help someone, Insyallah, we will be helped too, on based of their experiences.
Thanks a lots to both of you for your sharing! They were lots of memorable experiences you had. I really got impressed with every moment you had suffered and cherished here and I will remember your advises too. =)
